Father Poses As Teenage Boy Online To Catfish His Own Daughter Into Sending Nude Photos

In upstate New York, a man is facing 250 years in prison on child pornography charges. However, what makes this case especially egregious is that the perpetrator (unidentified, to protect the identity of the victim) was a father using social media to coerce nude pictures from his 14-year-old daughter.

According to Jezebel, on Monday, the father pleaded guilty to 12 counts of enticing a child to produce child pornography charges, which entailed setting up a fake Instagram account of a fictional teen boy he then used to catfish his daughter into an online relationship. As if this story wasn’t horrific enough, the father began sexually abusing the girl after she was tricked into sending the photo.

Syracuse.com reported that in 2013, the 41-year-old father crafted a fake persona via Instagram, AOL, and a texting app, pretending to be a 16-year-old boy in Watertown, New York, and started chatting with his daughter. The two then started referring to each other as boyfriend and girlfriend, even though they had yet to meet offline.

Once they forged this romantic relationship, the man started pressuring his daughter to send nude photos. A few months later, the girl dumped her online boyfriend, but the man then resorted to blackmail to keep up this sick ruse.
From Syracuse.com:
“I tell u what u want to me gone then send me nudes and close ups and I will let u go,” the man responded in a text, posing as the teenage boy. “No,” she responded. “I’m not going to do that. That’s another reason I’m leaving. All you talk about is sex sex and more sex. Honestly that is not what a relationship is about.”  “Then I will send these to your dad and then I won’t have to worry about anyone else having u,” the man wrote, referring to the child pornographic pictures she’d sent.
After the girl broke up with who she thought was her online boyfriend, her father then sent his daughter a text from another account posing as the fictional boy’s mother. The made-up mom was texting to let her know that her online boyfriend had committed suicide.

After the “suicide,” the father claimed that the fake boyfriend had sent him the nude photos and then started sexually abusing her. He was finally caught when the girl reported the molestation to the school nurse one year after her online boyfriend supposedly killed himself.

The man openly wept in Herkimer County court and told U.S. District Judge Brenda Sannes, “I’m giving away many years of my life.”

Cue an entire orchestra comprised of the world’s tiniest violins.
