Family Mistakes Grandmother In Casket For Another Woman After Funeral Home Used Too Much Makeup

Some family members in Washington who came to their grandmother's funeral got the shock of their life after finding another woman dressed in their loved one's clothes.

The family members of Virginia Gray, 83, said that the Horton's Funeral Home lost the body of the woman and then decided to replace her with another woman in an incident which unfolded on Friday.

Gray was reported to have lost consciousness in her home located on Dix Street NE, and was thereafter taken to the Prince George's Hospital Center, where she breath her last. She left behind four grandchildren a daughter and eight great-grandchildren.

The grandchildren realized that the woman in the coffin was not Gray when they arrived at the funeral home, though she was wearing clothes that they had brought for her grandmother, an incidence which took them by surprise. The Prince George's Hospital Center said that they were sure that Gray was released to the funeral home.

The funeral home maintained that the body in the casket was Gray, but to her grandchildren, she looked different as a result of the makeup and lighting. The grandchildren called Gray’s doctor, who eventually confirmed that the body was their grandmother.
