Parents are proud of 15-year-old son after he cuts off his own hand as punishment

A boy has cut off his own hand in order  to punish himself after he mistakenly raised it at a lecture in a mosque, police in Pakistan has said.

The teenage boy of Lahore decided to cut his own hand after believing that he had committed blasphemy. Lahore Police said that Imam Shabbir Ahmed was delivering a sermon in a Punjab village, when the boy did not understand him and raised his hand at the wrong time.

Police spokesperson Nosher Ali narrated how Imam Ahmed told his congregation that those who love the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) always say his prayers, after which the Imam asked those in the crowd if anyone had stopped praying.

15-year-old Mohammad Anwar raised his hand in error after he did not hear the question correctly. An action which the imam refereed to as a blasphemy.

The sad boy then went home and decided to cut off his own hand. He returned to the mosque and presented his hand to the Imam in a platter, the police chief said.

The police chief said that he has seen a video in which the boy's parents proclaim their pride and see nothing wrong in what their son has done.

The imam of the mosque has been arrested on a charge of inciting violence.
